Partners

The Cultural Wellness Center (CWC) and Pohlad Family Foundation have partnered to co-create this fellowship for Black activists and organizers who have persisted in the work but have not been afforded opportunities for renewal. As partners, CWC and the Foundation are intentionally engaged in learning from one another and community to create new shared knowledge towards the outcomes we desire to see.

Cultural Wellness Center

For more than 25 years, the mission of the Cultural Wellness Center has been to unleash the power of people to heal themselves and build community.

As a culturally rooted nonprofit in the African American community, the organization centers on the idea that when culture and community knowledge are studied and valued, they are powerful tools for health, memory healing, community building, and economic development.

Pohlad Family Foundation

The Pohlad Family Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life and opportunities for those most in need in the Twin Cities region. Established in 1994, the Foundation draws upon the expertise and needs of community to inform its programs.

Today, its work centers on two strategic focus areas: Housing Stability and Racial Justice. Both efforts aim to reduce persistent racial disparities for families and youth in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

Partnership Values & Principles

  • We will utilize a consensus-based decision-making process.

  • We will share information openly and frequently.

  • We will assess community knowledge, not community needs.

  • We integrate learning into the program design.

  • We will actively include the community as a partner in co-creation.

  • We are accountable to the Black community in the Twin Cities.
